PALM SPRINGS, CA —The Historic Camelot Theatre at the Palm Springs Cultural Center will screen "9 To 5" for free Wednesday evening in tribute to entertainer Dolly Parton, who died last month at age 80.

The 1980 comedy, starring Parton alongside Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, will be shown at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the theater, 2300 E. Baristo Road.

The screening is the first of two films being presented by the cultural center in memory of Parton and actor Tim Curry, who both died last month.

The center will screen "Clue," featuring Curry, at 6 p.m. next Wednesday.

"There are artists whose work becomes part of our shared memory -- the performances we quote, the songs we know by heart, the film we return to because they still make us laugh," center officials said in a social media post announcing the screenings.

Parton, the Grammy-winning country music star known for songs including "Jolene," died following a battle with cancer.

In addition to her music career, Parton appeared in films including "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" and "Steel Magnolias." She also opened the Dollywood theme park near the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee in 1986.

Curry gained fame for his portrayal of Dr. Frank N. Furter in the 1975 cult classic "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." His film and television credits also included "It," "Congo" and "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York."

More information about the screenings can be found at psculturalcenter.org.
