3 People Arrested At Palm Springs DUI Checkpoint

PALM SPRINGS, CA — Three motorists were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence during a checkpoint in Palm Springs, authorities said Monday.

The checkpoint was conducted from 8:30 p.m. Friday to 1 a.m. Saturday at East Tahquitz Canyon Way and South Hermosa Drive, according to the Palm Springs Police Department.

Of 270 vehicles contacted, one driver was cited for allegedly driving with a suspended license, and another motorist was arrested on suspicion of weapons charges, police said.

The location was selected based on impaired driving-related crash data, and the goal of the operation was to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the roads.

Funding was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
