INDIO, CA — The city of Indio is inviting residents to participate in a virtual meeting next week to learn about a project examining a proposed expansion of the city.
The event will take place from 5:30-6 p.m. Monday via Zoom.
A focused planning study, dubbed the East Indio Annexation Study, explores a possible annexation of more than 4,000 acres of unincorporated Riverside County land into Indio's eastern boundary.
Attendees will learn about the project's area, the annexation process and any project updates. Community input will be important as the city advances through the project, officials said.
The area is expected to be used as a "future employment hub with a mix of employment-generating uses, such as a business park with a light industrial and logistics, office, retail, in addition to workforce housing and open space," officials added.
