Motorist Killed In Fiery, Solo-Vehicle Crash In Riverside County

INDIAN WELLS, CA — One person was killed after a solo-vehicle crash early Friday morning in Indian Wells, authorities said.

The crash was reported just after 2 a.m. near Highway 111 and Desert Horizons Drive, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies arrived at the scene and encountered a vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters from the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department also responded at the scene and put out the blaze.

The driver, who was the only occupant in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The collision investigation prompted authorities to temporarily close Highway 111 between Cook Street and Eldorado Drive, which has since reopened.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.
