Indio Appoints Maria Aliotti As New Assistant City Manager

INDIO, CA — The city of Indio has named long-time local government administrator Maria Aliotti as its new assistant city manager following a statewide executive search, municipal officials announced Monday.

Aliotti, who brings more than 30 years of municipal experience to the post, will assume her new duties on Oct. 5. She was selected from a pool of 111 applicants following a recruitment search that drew candidates from across California and several other states.

In her new role, Aliotti will work alongside City Manager Jonathan Nicks and the municipal executive leadership team to oversee daily city operations, support City Council strategic priorities, and guide major development initiatives in the fast-growing Coachella Valley community.

"As Indio continues to grow and advance major priorities across the organization, Maria will be a tremendous addition to our executive team," Nicks said in a statement. "Throughout the recruitment process, she demonstrated the leadership, judgment and collaborative approach we were looking for in our next Assistant City Manager."

Aliotti most recently served as assistant city manager for the Bay Area city of Pittsburg, California, a role she held since 2021. During her tenure in Pittsburg, she also served at times as interim city manager and finance director, while overseeing departments including finance, human resources, information technology, recreation, and city clerk services.

Her previous local government experience includes work as Pittsburg's community services director and redevelopment manager, as well as earlier administrative roles with the City of Antioch.

Aliotti holds a bachelor's degree in business management from Saint Mary's College of California.
