PALM DESERT, CA — The California State University, San Bernardino Palm Desert Campus awarded more than $170,000 in scholarships to over 50 students for the 2026-27 academic year, university officials announced Tuesday.
The funding is aimed at expanding access to higher education and reducing financial strain for students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees at the Coachella Valley campus.
Scholarships were distributed across various academic disciplines, evaluating applicants on academic performance, community involvement, and personal development. Recipients also receive access to peer tutoring, mentorship programs, and career development workshops.
"This scholarship has made a tremendous difference in my life by easing the financial burden of completing CSUSB's nursing program," said Alexis Molina Agbayani, a nursing student and recipient of the Mary Stuart Rogers Scholarship. Agbayani, who works as a student nurse at Eisenhower Medical Center, said the funds will help cover textbook costs and board examination fees.
Other recipients include Dante Rafael Ramirez Manjarrez, an incoming junior in the bachelor of social work program who serves as vice president of the campus Associated Students Inc., and Rhiann Portia Bernardo, a nursing student planning a career in public health.
The Palm Desert Campus serves as the only four-year public university campus in the Coachella Valley, offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
