International Film Star, Jericho Rosales, captivates American Audience in a rousing child-trafficking drama, “Breakaway” (Original Title: Alagwa), at Palm Springs International Film Festival

Hailed by the Huffington Post as “America’s must-see Festival of foreign film”, the Palm Springs International Film Festival had its critics, movie-goers, fans, and celebrity guests lined up this past weekend for the North American Premiere of the Philippine Drama, “Breakaway”, starring Jericho Rosales, and newcomer director, Ian Lorenos.
“I’m so grateful for a prestigious Festival like PSIFF for selecting our film to be showcased this year!” exclaimed Rosales. “I was on the edge of my seat, anxious to see and hear how the American audience would react to this film.”
Known most for his romantic leading roles in Philippine Television, International Film Star, Jericho Rosales, took a turn as a fortuneless, single father on a frantic search to find his abducted 9-year-old son, played by child-star, Bugoy Cariño. The film delved into the lurid, real life of child-trafficking through the back streets of Manila.

88 minutes of a rollercoaster reaction of joy and laughter to fear and distress were, nonetheless, felt throughout the theater. Much to the audience’s surprise, the emotional ending proved bittersweet with tears and cheers!
“My mind is set on doing more of these kinds of ‘realistic-style’ international projects in the future,” states Rosales, who is also a first-time Co-Producer. “I want to share my gift to a larger, bigger crowd, create a deeper impact, and make my Kababayans proud!”
