In addition to the Dec. 3 tree lighting, there will be carolers, treats, Mr. and Mrs. Claus, and a larger-than-life snow globe.

PALM DESERT, CA — The annual Shops on El Paseo Christmas tree lighting ceremony is set for Friday night, and the community is invited to join the merriment.

The free event will take place from 5 - 7 p.m. at Highway 74 and Sage Lane in Palm Desert. In addition to the tree lighting, "carolers’ voices will fill the air and yummy treats galore will tempt with seasonal flavors," according to event organizers.

There will also be "a larger-than-life snow globe" and Santa and Mrs. Claus will appear to wish everyone glad tidings.
