For those looking to head out to the Palm Desert Aquatic Center and cool off— there are some improvements at the facility you may be excited to learn about.
City officials say that two large shade structures were recently installed, "...which have been greatly appreciated by patrons."
Also, access to the facility has been expanded, with a new turn pocket.
"The newly constructed eastbound left turn pocket now provides easy access from westbound Portola Avenue," a newsletter from the city states.
"When the Aquatic Center opened in 2011, the only access was provided via eastbound Magnesia Falls Drive," according to the city. "Westbound traffic on Magnesia Falls Drive had to make a tight U-turn at San Pablo Avenue and double back to the entrance."
According to the city, both the shade structures and turn pocket made up the two most-requested upgrades from residents.
"Reaction from both the Aquatic Center staff and patrons has been very positive," the newsletter says.
