Berkemer Steps Down from Realtors Group

Greg Berkemer, executive vice president of California Desert Association of REALTORS announced today he is retiring.

“It is with mixed emotions, sadness and joy, that I announce my retirement from the Association. With sadness that 16 great years of service here are coming to an end and with joy as I look forward to pursuing the many things each of us hold in abeyance in the pursuit of our professional careers,” said Berkemer, 64. “Being a part of the California Desert Association of Realtors and the greater desert community has been an incredible personal and professional experience I would not have traded it for the world.”

“I am honored to have worked with the best of the best includes the many members, committee chairs, directors and officers. I could not have assembled a better mix even if I had tried to do so. I am blessed to have worked with an incredible staff. I would take them all with me but I don’t have enough rooms in my house. They are the best and CDAR is in good hands. The desert is my home so I will pursue my future from here. If I may quote Bop Hope, 'Thanks for the memories.'”

“Greg has been the anchor for CDAR and was integral in the explosive growth of our organization and the real estate industry as a whole in the Coachella Valley,” said Marnie Balog, president of CDAR.

Balog said it will be “very difficult for us to replace Greg because of his vast knowledge and his innovations that has been a benchmark for CDAR over the past 16 years.” She said an extensive search for a new executive vice president is underway.
