Soccer fans from across the Coachella Valley are invited to come together for a weekend of excitement, community and international competition as The Shops at Palm Desert hosts the Palm Desert Community Soccer Watch Weekend this Saturday and Sunday, July 18-19.
Presented by the City of Palm Desert and hosted in partnership with The Shops at Palm Desert, the free two-day event transforms the mall's Main Court into a lively gathering place where fans can watch the final matches of the world's biggest international soccer championship while enjoying entertainment, family activities, shopping and giveaways.
The event serves as the grand finale of the City of Palm Desert's summer campaign, "Discover What's Next," celebrating community connections and local businesses.
"This weekend offers so much more than watching soccer – it's about bringing our community together to celebrate, connect and enjoy everything Palm Desert has to offer," said Nayyan Chandler, Marketing & Business Development Manager for The Shops at Palm Desert. "Whether you're a lifelong soccer fan or simply looking for a fun family outing, there's something for everyone."
Throughout both days, attendees can enjoy:
·Live viewing of the championship weekend matches
·Music from a live DJ before each match and during breaks
·A Kids Craft & Hangout Zone
·A local vendor fair featuring community businesses
·The Palm Desert Playbook Passport, where guests can collect stamps from participating vendors and retailers to earn a chance to spin the prize wheel for giveaways
·Daily grand gift basket drawings
·Special weekend discounts at participating stores and eateries
Guests are encouraged participate in the "Wear Your Team" Instagram photo contest celebrating team spirit by wearing their favorite team's jersey or colors and sharing photos from the event, tagging @cityofpalmdesert and @theshopsatpalmdesert using #PalmDesertWearYourTeam. One winner will be selected each day and announced on Tuesday, July 21.

Saturday, July 18
Check-in begins at 1 p.m.
Match viewing begins at 2 p.m.
Sunday, July 19
Check-in begins at 11 a.m.
Match viewing begins at noon.
The event takes place in the Main Court at The Shops at Palm Desert, located at 72840 Highway 111 between Monterey Avenue and Town Center Way, across from Whole Foods Market.
Spectator seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, with additional standing room and upper-level viewing areas provided. Guests who register in advance and check in onsite will receive a commemorative giveaway item and bottled water while supplies last and will automatically be entered into that day's grand prize drawing.
