Canadian Man Dies of Injuries Sustained in Valley Crash

The chain reaction crash occurred over the weekend.

INDIO, CA - A Canadian man involved in a three-vehicle crash in Indio on Saturday night died Tuesday of his injuries.

John Hollingshead, 63, of Sylvan Lake, Alberta was pronounced dead at 1:10 a.m. at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, according to the county coroner's office.

The crash occurred just before 8 p.m. Saturday on Jefferson Street, south of Avenue 48.

Hollingshead's car rear-ended a mail truck, which in turn rear-ended a pickup truck, Indio Sgt. Daniel Marshall said. The drivers and sole occupants of the two trucks were uninjured.

Marshall said that alcohol is suspected to have been a factor in the crash.
