Candidate Elizabeth Romero Hosting Virtual Campaign Event
Romero is facing Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez, R-Lake Elsinore, in the May 12 special election to decide the 28th Senate District seat.
PALM SPRINGS, CA — One of the two 28th Senate District candidates vying in the May 12 special election will host a virtual campaign event tonight, and the public is invited to attend.
Democratic candidate Elizabeth Romero will be joined by three Palm Springs councilwomen and former Councilwoman Ginny Foat during Wednesday's 6 p.m. "Cocktails & Conversation" over Zoom video conferencing.
Palm Springs Councilwomen Lisa Middleton, Christy Holstege and Grace Garner will be on-hand. The three women — along with the rest of the Palm Springs City Council — have endorsed Romero. Foat is set to moderate Wednesday's chat.

Next month's special election is being held to fill the 28th Senate District seat vacated by Republican Jeff Stone, who resigned to become western regional director of the U.S. Department of Labor.
Romero, a member of the Riverside County Board of Education and UC Riverside's chief government and community relations officer, is facing Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez, R-Lake Elsinore.

The 28th Senate District includes the cities of Blythe, Canyon Lake, Cathedral City, Coachella, Desert Hot Springs, Indian Wells, Indio, Lake Elsinore, La Quinta, Murrieta, Temecula, Palm Desert, Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage, and Wildomar.
