Coachella Valley Firebirds Battle Begins For The Calder Cup Finals
The Firebirds battle Hershey Bears for the Calder Cup Finals! boycott chocolate and #MeltTheCompetition at Palm Desert's Acrisure Arena.
PALM DESERT, CA — The Western Conference Champions and newest team in the AHL, the Coachella Valley Firebirds face off against the oldest team in the League, the Eastern Conference Champion Hershey Bears Thursday at Acrisure Arena.
Game two will be on Saturday, June 10.
The Coachella Valley Firebirds—an expansion hockey team affiliated with the Seattle Kracken—have called for a total chocolate boycott, as that candy is manufactured in the Hershey Bears' home city in Pennsylvania.

Faithful Firebirds fans are taking a stand as the team prepares to #MeltTheCompetition for the duration of the seven-game series.
"The Firebirds are calling for a boycott and removal of all chocolate in the Coachella Valley, including chocolate bars, chocolate milk, chocolate ice cream, chocolate donuts, and chocolate chip cookies," a team spokesperson said. "Fans craving chocolate should hold off until the end of the Calder Cup Finals."

Of course, should someone in Coachella Valley have a strong craving for chocolate and can’t wait until the seven-game series concludes, local proprietors and sweet treat peddlers should make sure to accommodate.
