Coachella Valley Nonprofit Asks Community For School Supplies Donations

Donations can include backpacks, pencils, pens, erasers, notebooks and composition books, rulers and glue sticks.

MECCA, CA — The Galilee Center asked for the public's help Friday for school supplies donations ahead of their back-to-school distribution in August.

The nonprofit will collect donations through Aug. 3. Items can be dropped off at 66-101 Hammond Road, in Mecca, according to the organization.

Donations can include backpacks, pencils, pens, erasers, notebooks and composition books, rulers and glue sticks.

"For many families, these simple items make a meaningful difference and help children begin the school year with confidence and excitement for learning," according to the organization.

Money donations can also be made at galileecenter.org/donate.

The nonprofit's backpack distribution event will take place from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 6.
