The 73-year-old was on a handcycle when the crash happened.

A cyclist who died of injuries suffered in a collision with an automobile was identified Tuesday as a 73-year-old Durango, Colorado, woman.

Rose Peters— who was apparently riding a hand-powered bike— died about an hour after the 11:30 a.m. Monday crash, which closed Mesa View Drive at Highway 74 in Palm Desert for several hours, authorities said.

Neither alcohol nor drugs was believed to be a factor in the crash, said Deputy Albert Martinez of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
