Coroner IDs Woman Killed In Crash Near North Palm Springs

GARNET, CA — A 37-year-old woman died at the scene of a multi-vehicle collision in the unincorporated community of Garnet, near Desert Hot Springs, authorities said Saturday.

The collision was reported at 12:45 p.m. Thursday at Mountain View Road and Club House Drive, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency stated that crews found a collision involving three vehicles — two of them on fire. Firefighters doused the vehicle fires, and Mountain View Road was temporarily closed.

Ashley Lopez of Desert Hot Springs was pronounced dead at the scene, the Riverside County coroner's office stated.

Three other people suffered critical injuries and one sustained moderate injuries, fire officials said.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
