Crews Douse Brush Fire Near Palm Springs
The fire was contained to 25 acres and no structure was threatened.

A brush fire sparked by a broken high voltage transmission line scorched 25 acres near Palm Springs on Friday before being fully contained with no injuries reported.

The blaze was reported at 1:32 p.m. in an unincorporated area west of Palm Springs near Snow Creek Road, south of Highway 111, Jody Hagemann of the Riverside County Fire Department said.
Crews from Riverside and San Bernardino counties and the U.S. Forest Service battled the fire, which burned in vegetation of medium density, Hagemann said.

The blaze was 100 percent contained by 6:45 p.m., Hagemann said.
It broke out when a 500 kilovolt transmission line broke and fell to the ground, she said.
