CVWD Work To Close 1 Lane, Bike Path On Ave 52 And Washington

The closure will last through the end of November, officials say.

PALM DESERT, CA - From Coachella Valley Water District: A Coachella Valley Water District (CVWD) construction project in La Quinta will be closing one lane of traffic and the bike path on northbound Washington Street between Avenue 52 and Avenue 50 beginning October 25 and continuing through the end of November.

One lane of northbound traffic will remain open at all times.

The closures are part of a bigger project in which a CVWD contractor, T.E. Roberts, will be installing new irrigation lines, expanding delivery of Colorado River water for irrigation to the La Quinta Civic Center. This new pipeline will also increase the capacity of the existing line allowing nearby golf courses to use Colorado River water rather than pumping groundwater.

Lane closures will be in effect 24 hours a day for safety reasons. The entire project is expected to be completed by March 2019.

Additional traffic advisories will be sent regularly telling residents about the streets where traffic will be impacted.
