Mother Of Young Kids Found Dead In Their Twentynine Palms Garage, Dad Charged With Murder

TWENTYNINE PALMS, CA — A Twentynine Palms father is suspected of killing his children's mother, and it's unclear whether he may have left a clue for investigators.

Isaac Matthew Angel is suspected of the slaying of Jessica Nicole Phillips, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. Both are listed as 34-year-old residents of Twentynine Palms.

The discovery of Phillips' death began just after 8 a.m. Friday, March 13, when deputies were called to Cal Fire/San Bernardino County Fire Station #44 in the 6500 block of Adobe Road about a Toyota Tacoma that was blocking a station gate.

Apparently, no one was in the vehicle, but a quick check led deputies to a home about 3 miles away in the 74900 block of Aladdin Drive.

Once at the residence, the deputies found two unsupervised children inside. They searched the home and found the children’s mother, Phillips, dead in the garage.

A short time later, deputies found the kids' dad, Angel, a few blocks away, walking near the intersection of Sunrise Drive and Araby Avenue.

During the homicide investigation, Angel was named as the suspect in Phillips' death. Details about the killing were not released.

Angel was charged with murder and is being held without bail at the county jail in Rancho Cucamonga. He was due to appear in court on Tuesday.

It's unclear who left the abandoned Toyota at the fire station.
