Deputies To Patrol For DUI In Palm Desert On Cinco De Mayo: Sheriff

The deputies will be patrolling the Coachella Valley, including Rancho Mirage, and Indian Wells, authorities said.

PALM DESERT, CA — More deputies will be on patrol for Cinco De Mayo on Tuesday searching for motorists suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs in the Palm Desert area, authorities said.

The additional deputies will be patrolling the Coachella Valley, including Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, and Indian Wells from 4 p.m. to midnight, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

"Don’t put yourself and others on the road at risk by driving impaired," said Deputy Thomas Somers. 'If you’re planning to celebrate with a drink or two, leave your keys at home and designate a sober driver."

Riverside County Sheriff's Department also reminded motorists that alcohol is not the only substance that can cause impairment. Prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, cannabis products and other drugs may also cause impairment.
