Desert Dust Storm Affects Parts of Riverside

A dust storm warning that could affect parts of Riverside County was issued Friday night for Yucca Valley, Morongo Valley and Twentynine Palms.

The warning from the National Weather Service in Las Vegas was issued at 7:17 p.m. as the dust storm moved into the Yucca Valley from the Joshua Tree area.

“Significantly reduced visibilities are likely and travel is discouraged until the dust clears,” according to the warning, which was to expire at midnight.

Winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph were forecast, the weather service reported.

“Blowing dust may result in zero visibility at times and make travel dangerous if not impossible,” according to the National Weather Service.
