Desert Healthcare Fires CEO Chris Christensen

In a closed session, the Desert Healthcare District board of directors let CEO Chris Christensen go for reasons still under wraps.

PALM SPRINGS, CA — Desert Healthcare District CEO Chris Christensen has been terminated from his role effective immediately, though officials were not revealing the reason for the action on Wednesday.

The board voted to terminate Christensen during Tuesday night's meeting.

"The board in closed session voted unanimously (to) terminate the CEO without cause in accordance with the terms of his contract," the board's legal counsel said during the meeting.

According to the board of directors' meeting agenda, members discussed Christensen's employee performance evaluation in a closed session.

Christensen was unable to be reached for comment and further details regarding his termination were not immediately provided.

Board President Kimberly Barraza raised concerns about his judgment and ethics, and Christensen defended himself against those claims during the meeting, KESQ reported.
