Desert Oasis Music Festival Organizers Offering Indio Residents Discounted Tickets

INDIO, CA — Organizers behind next week's inaugural Desert Oasis Music Festival in Indio will be offering a special discounted ticket sale for city residents. Indio residents will have a chance on Tuesday to secure half off the usual ticket price during a special sale only for those living in the City of Festivals.

Tickets originally went on sale in July at $175 for a two-day general admission pass or $99 for a one-day pass. The discount is applicable to all ticket types except camping and cabanas.

Only 250 tickets will be available total, with a limit of two tickets per Indio resident. Those seeking tickets at Tuesday's sale must bring a valid ID with a city of Indio address to the Date Shed Box Office, 50725 Monroe St.

"Empire Music Ventures is excited to give back to the City of Festivals," said Alex Haagen IV, the festival's producer. "We wanted to offer a lower priced ticket to the community that's the home of this festival."

The festival, set for Oct. 7 and Oct. 8 at the Empire Polo Grounds will feature a full slate of reggae, R&B and hip hop artists, including Damian Marley, Los Lobos, Rebelution, E-40, Murs, Warren G and Reel Big Fish.

But organizers said that festival goers shouldn't expect the festival to have a similar look year in, year out based on this year's lineup.

"Desert Oasis Music Festival is not genre specific," Haagen said. "We do have a solid reggae lineup in our inaugural year, but we want to keep the festival diversified with other types of music."

In addition to general admission, tent and RV camping will also be available for three nights. Children 12 and under get in for free.
