Desert Regional Medical Center Unveils New Cardiology Center For Coachella Valley

Patients in the Coachella Valley often face long wait times to be treated for heart conditions. The center aims to limit that experience.

PALM SPRINGS, CA — Desert Regional Medical Center has opened a new outpatient heart care clinic aimed at expanding access to cardiology services across the Coachella Valley, hospital officials announced.

The Desert Regional Cardiology Center, operated by Desert Care Network, brings general, diagnostic and interventional cardiology services together in one location to provide patients with coordinated care before, during and after hospital visits.

The center will celebrate its launch with “Affair of the Heart,” an open house and ribbon-cutting event from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the Stergios Building, 1140 N. Indian Canyon Drive. A ribbon-cutting with the Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce is scheduled for 4 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, with light refreshments served.

In addition to touring the cardiology clinic, attendees will have the opportunity to speak with specialists from several hospital programs, including cardiac rehabilitation, the congestive heart failure program and the comprehensive stroke center, officials said.

“Our goal is to make high-quality cardiac care more accessible and coordinated for our patients,” said Kaustubh Patankar, medical director of the Desert Regional Cardiology Center. “We hear from patients in our communities that it can take months to seek general cardiovascular care. By bringing interventional, diagnostic and follow-up services together in one location, we can streamline care, reduce delays and support better outcomes.”

Services offered at the center include general cardiology, atherectomy and stent placement, percutaneous coronary intervention, echocardiography, nuclear medicine, stress testing and advanced diagnostic services.

The clinic is designed for patients needing follow-up care after inpatient procedures or emergency room visits, referrals from primary care physicians, stress testing or ongoing cardiac monitoring, according to Desert Care Network.

The Desert Regional Cardiology Center joins two other heart-focused programs located in the Stergios Building — the congestive heart failure clinic and the cardiac rehabilitation program — creating a centralized hub for cardiovascular care on the hospital campus.

Appointments with cardiologists at the new center are available now. Prospective patients can call 760-424-7345 or visit this link. Registration for the Feb. 18 open house is available here.
