Desert Yoga Studio Offers Free Classes To Federal Employees

During the government shutdown, the local studio is offering a unique way to help relieve some of the stress.

From Bikram Yoga Plus – Coachella Valley: As federal employees enter a second month of a government shutdown, Bikram Yoga Plus – Coachella Valley is offering a way to help relieve some of the stress. Until the United States government reopens and starts paying its workers, the local yoga studio will offer unpaid and furloughed federal employees unlimited classes at no cost.

“The government shutdown is stressful for a lot of people, but none more than those working without pay and those who don’t know when they will be called back to work,” said DuBarry Hay. “Practicing yoga can help de-stress during this difficult time, and we are happy to extend this offer to our federal workers, because yoga should be accessible to everyone.”

Federal workers who have been impacted by the government shutdown can take free classes at either the Palm Desert location or the new Palm Springs location (upon its opening), by simply showing proof of federal employment. DuBarry Hay says she will extend this offer until the government is reopened.

DuBarry Hay recently teamed with Annmarie Lynn to open the yoga studio in Palm Springs. Both women are certified Bikram Yoga instructors who were each taught directly by Bikram Choudhury, who developed his unique yoga practice in the 1970s. Lynn is a former gymnast who found life-changing pain relief after practicing Bikram Yoga for less than three months.

“It’s important to us to share yoga with anyone who wants this positive energy in their life,” said Lynn.
