Dr. Raul Ruiz to Speak to Families at Xavier College Prep

Ruiz will speak of the college experience and giving back to the community to the families of first time college students.

Xavier College Prep is hosting a series of speeches preparing families of “first generation” college students on how to prepare for college. 

Dr. Raul Ruiz will speak of his personal experiences of college and returning home to serve the community on Sunday, April 22nd at 1:30pm. 

Ruiz was raised locally, graduated from Coachella Valley High School before graduating manga cum laude at UCLA, and obtained his Medical Doctorate at Harvard.  Ruiz also received a Masters Degree in public policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.  He later returned to Harvard to receive a Masters in Public Health, making him the first latino to receive three graduate degrees from Harvard.

The bilingual series will be focused on the higher educations experience and its benefits as students prepare to apply and leave for college.  Families with students of all grade levels are welcome and encouraged to attend. 

The event is free and open to the public.  It takes place in the Hal & Annie Rover Commons on the Xavier Prep campus.  Those attending should RSVP to Anitza Guadarrama-Tiernan at 760-360-3900, ext 6156; or by emailing aquadarrama@xavierprep.org.
