Dump Truck Strikes Power Lines, Triggers Outage In Riverside County: CHP

The collision left 85 SCE customers near United and Kranshire Roads without power, according to SCE's website.

DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA — Dozens of Southern California Edison customers in Desert Hot Springs were without power Friday afternoon after a dump truck struck power lines in Desert Hot Springs and knock out electricity.

The crash was reported shortly after 1 p.m. at 13311 United Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The agency said a dump truck traveling at an unspecified rate of speed had the "dump portion in an upright position and it collided into power lines."

The collision left 85 SCE customers near United and Kranshire Roads without power, according to SCE's website.

No injuries were reported. Neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected to be a factor in the crash, authorities said.

An estimated restoration time for power was not immediately known.
