Earthquake Rattles Coachella Valley, Salton Sea Communities

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA — A small earthquake with a magnitude of 3.1 struck the inland desert Tuesday afternoon.

The temblor struck at 1:17 p.m. and was centered roughly 31 miles south-southeast of Coachella, near the Salton Sea, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
