Eisenhower Medical Center Gets 5 Stars In Gov't Rating System
Hospital officials say they were the only facility in Riverside County to get the honor.

From Eisenhower Medical Center: Eisenhower Medical Center received five stars from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in its Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating released today. Less than 10% percent of hospitals nationwide received five stars.
According to CMS’s website, the Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating provides information on how well hospitals provide recommended care to their patients. This information can help consumers make informed decisions about health care.

Aubrey Serfling, President and Chief Executive Officer, Eisenhower Medical Center. “A five-star rating by CMS demonstrates the hard work and dedication of physicians, nurses and staff who provide the very best to our patients each and every day.”

The overall rating summarizes up to 57 quality measures reflecting common conditions that hospitals treat, such as heart attacks or pneumonia, as well as, measures that focus on hospital-acquired infections, including catheter-associated urinary tract infections.
The overall rating demonstrates how well each hospital performed, on average, as compared to other hospitals in the U.S. Hospital ratings range.

The methodology uses a statistical model known as a latent variable model. Seven different latent variable models are used to calculate scores for seven groups of measures including: Mortality; Safety of Care; Readmissions; Patient Experience; Effectiveness of Care; Timeliness of Care and Efficient Use of Medical Imaging.
