The 3rd Corner Wine Shop and Bistro located in the former Palomino Restaurant site at 73-101 Highway 111 is celebrating its first anniversary by kicking off the summer and showcasing wines from the Harley-Ostini Hitching Post Winery on June 14 at 7pm. The cost is $45 plus tax & gratuity. Reservations are required. Please call 760-837-9600. Hitching Post Winery co-owner Gray Hartley will be there to talk about his wines. “Having Gray at our wine dinner will make for a lively  evening,” notes Ed Moore, 3rd Corner’s owner.

3rd Corner’s Paris Cordon Bleu trained chef, Matt Smith, is presenting a five-course dinner paired with specially selected Hitching Post wines.  The menu includes; seared albacore tuna/ piment d'espelette, fennel puree and lemon aioli as a first course, paired with a 2010 Rose.

This will be followed by olive oil poached salmon/ tarragon smashed potatoes and orange vinaigrette.      A 2008 Pinot Noir "Hometown" accompanies this second course. A 2007 Generation Red promises to compliment the following course of braised beef cheek/ grilled mushroom and creamy risotto.  The fourth course features smoked lamb saddle/ buttermilk potato puree, almond green beans, lamb and anise sauce is paired with a 2007 Syrah "Big Circle" which will surely hold its own against this hearty lamb dish. Dessert is a house-made chocolate terrine and coffee.
