Meet Two Well-Known Proprietors of Napa Valley and Sonoma Coast Wineries at the Stanton/Pfendler Wine Maker Dinner at the 3rd Corner Wine Shop & Bistro

The 3rd Corner Wine Shop and Bistro, honored as having one of the “Top 50 Restaurant Wine Lists in America“ by Open Table, the country’s leading restaurant reservation site, hosts a wine maker dinner showcasing wines from two Sonoma and Napa Wineries: Stanton Vineyards and Pfendler Vineyards. The cost for the four-course food and wine pairing dinner is $70 plus tax and gratuity. The evening begins with a reception at 6:00pm, followed by dinner at 6:15pm. Reservations are required. Please call 760.837.9600.

3rd Corner’s Paris Cordon Bleu trained chef, Matt Smith, has created an innovative menu to complement the wines of both Stanton and Pfendler. The evening begins with tuna/peroinio cheese, lemon arugula and lemon foam paired with a Pfendler, Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast 2009. The second course is a duck confit/cherry demi glaze, swiss chard, green beans and cipponi onions and a Pfendler, Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast 2008. The third course follows: a lamb chop/confit potato, grilled brocollini, olive vinaigrette complimented by a Stanton, Cabernet Sauvignon, Oakville 2009. The evening ends with chocolate and black berry tart/black pepper sauce and a Stanton, Petite Sirah, St. Helena 2007.

The Stanton family has been growing grapes in the Napa Valley since 1947. Grapes are used exclusively from the Oakville vineyard and two vineyards in St. Helena. They presently grow seven different red-wine varieties which include: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Petite Sirah and Mourvedre. Dave Phinney (the man behind the famous Orin Swift "Prisoner" label) is heading this beautiful estate grown property. Full flavored, well oaked and highly extracted wines are the signature of these Napa Valley Reds.

Nestled in the hillsides of Sonoma Mountain, Pfendler Vineyards is a small, family-owned winery dedicated to cultivating the finest estate-grown grapes. Limited production offerings of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay capture the distinct qualities of the vineyards and the newly emerging Petaluma Gap region of the Sonoma Coast. Owner, Kimberly Pfendler will be at the dinner to talk about her wines.
