Extra Roadside Assistance Available During Storms

More freeway tow trucks are available this week, especially during commute times.

Announcement from Riverside County Transportation Commission--

Riverside County Transportation Commission officials have announced an increase in the number of freeway service vehicles available to assist motorists stranded during this week’s El Nino storms.

Three Freeway Service Patrol tow trucks were assigned to the Riverside (91) Freeway and Interstate 15 in Corona, and four will be on the commuter corridors during peak rush-hour periods, RCTC officials said.

“The extra tow trucks will continue as needed ... during the 2016 El Nino season,” according to an agency statement.

RCTC is overseeing the 91 Freeway Fast Forward Project, and all of the FSP drivers are limited to helping motorists within the project zone, which extends from the Orange County line east to I-15.

The $1.3 billion project got underway early last year and entails widening the heavily traveled 91, with new traffic lanes and ramps, as well as additional shoulder space and expanded surface streets in the vicinity of the freeway.cleardot.gif
