Family YMCA of the Desert Celebrates 35 Years in the Coachella Valley

Family YMCA of the Desert launches new website to celebrate serving Coachella Valley families for 35 years.

PALM DESERT, CA - From Family YMCA of the Desert: Family YMCA of the Desert is celebrating 35 years of providing services to residents of all ages in the Coachella Valley. Offering everything from aquatics programs, senior programs, kids camps, and child care, to a unique Youth & Government program, the Family YMCA of the Desert serves more than 3,800 children and families every day at 41 locations across the Coachella Valley from Palm Springs to Mecca.

To celebrate this milestone, Family YMCA is focusing on communicating the breadth and scope of their programs and activities to the Valley with newly redesigned website and social media platforms that allow parents to register their children for the programs, see updated information and encourage all Valley residents to see how they can help their local YMCA. The campaign shines light on the many services the YMCA has to offer, including lesser-known programs such as Coachella Valley Housing Coalition, which helps provide homes for and improves the living conditions of low income individuals; Hope Through Housing, which creates community change in neighborhoods threatened by crime and poverty, by providing services such as homework help, healthy snacks, games, crafts and activities for kids in after school care; aquatics programs including swim lessons and exercise classes at the Palm Desert Aquatic Center and La Quinta Fritz Burns Park; the Youth and Government program for high school students, designed to give them a hands-on experience learning about state government through debate, legislative writing, and court litigation; as well as their more well-known programs such as youth sports, day camps, residents camps at Camp Oakes and Camp Fox, and after school care.

In addition to celebrating their 35th anniversary, Family YMCA of the Desert is also celebrating its 30th year hosting the Hoedown at Sundown. This can’t-miss annual event takes place on Saturday, November 4th at 6:00 p.m. at Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa in Rancho Mirage.
