2 Confirmed Dead In Palm Desert Hotel Stabbings

The incident was reported Friday morning at the Springhill Suites by Marriott Palm Desert, 72322 Highway 111.

PALM DESERT, CA — Law enforcement activity Friday morning at a Palm Desert hotel was due to a stabbing that left at least two dead, according to Riverside County Sheriff's Sgt. Edward Soto.

Deputies were called to the Springhill Suites by Marriott Palm Desert, 72322 Highway 111, at 6:55 a.m. about a man with a knife and a dispute in the hotel's parking lot, Soto said.

When deputies and Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department personnel arrived, they found two people dead and one person wounded, according to the sergeant. The wounded person was transported to a local hospital. The names, ages, genders, and cities of residence for the three were not released.

Investigators were still working to determine if any of the three were suspects, or whether others were involved who may have fled, Soto said.

It's unclear what the dispute was about and why it escalated into violence.

The sergeant said investigators will likely continue working at the scene into the afternoon.
