Fees Waived for Use of National Forest Campgrounds This Weekend

San Bernardino National Forest will waive fees all across the forest on Saturday.

Visitors to the San Bernardino National Forest on Saturday will not have to pay anything for access to areas of the reserve that typically require purchase of a pass.

According to the U.S. Forest Service, fee waivers will be in effect in all parts of the 676,666-acre forest, about a third of which is in Riverside County.

"This Saturday marks `National Get Outdoors Day,' a great way to
connect communities with public lands all over the country,'' said acting
Forest Recreation Officer Al Colby. "This is a great opportunity to get
outdoors and appreciate the open spaces and enjoy healthy recreation in the
forest.''

Rangers said that access to 98 percent of federally protected land is
free most, if not all, of the time. However, a few activities require a Daily
Adventure Pass.

Future fee-waiver weekends are planned on Sept. 29 and Nov. 10.
