INDIAN WELLS, CA — Firefighters put out a fire a hotel in Indian Wells that ignited in an electrical room Sunday evening.

The fire was reported at 7:55 p.m. Sunday in one of the hotels in the 44000 block of Indian Wells Lane, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. It was reported out at 9:03 p.m. and firefighters remained at the scene to clear out smoke.

KESQ reported the location is that of the Grand Hyatt.

The fire was located in the fifth-floor electrical room and officials initially requested additional engines to respond to the scene, fire officials said.

One person was taken to a hospital by ambulance with a minor medical complaint, fire officials said. About 215 adults and 50 children were relocated to other accommodations.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
