This story updated at 4:45 pm

Surveillance photos relased late this afternoon show the man who robbed the First California Bank in Palm Desert late this morning;  it's the same man who attempted to rob a USBank branch in Bermuda Dunes minutes earlier.

Riverside County Sheriff's Deputy Angel Ramos said the man was wearing dark sunglasses with orange earpieces, a t-shirt and dark colored long pants. He's described as being thin build, in his mid 20s to early 30s, with long dirty blond hair combed to one side.

The suspect entered the USBank branch on Washington Street in Bermuda Dunes about 11:39 this morning, and handed a demand note to a teller.  The teller returned that note and the suspect fled on foot.

Five minutes later, Deputies were alerted to a similar robbery at the First California Bank branch at Washington and Fred Waring. This time the robber fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money.
