Four Honorees for Desert AIDS Project's 'Everyday Heroes' Event Announced
Four honorees include: Larry Edwards, Joanne Morford, Linda Stevens, and Mike Thompson.

PALM SPRINGS, CA - Honorees were announced Tuesday for the Desert AIDS Project's third annual Everyday Heroes event, which is held on World AIDS Day to honor the Palm Springs nonprofit's volunteers and raise awareness.
The event is held yearly on Dec. 1.
This year's honorees, who will be feted at the Camelot Theatre, are:

- Larry Edwards, voted Fan Favorite at the Desert AIDS Project's third annual "Queen of the Desert" lip-sync competition
- Joanne Morford, who has volunteered for the past eight years for the organization's Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards and as its Dining Out for Life ambassador
- Linda Stevens, Desert Regional Medical Center's community relations coordinator, who has volunteered for the Desert AIDS Walk since 1993 and coordinated the Clinton Foundation's annual private events in the Coachella Valley
- Mike Thompson, executive director of LGBT Community Center of the Desert
"While we have always looked back on World AIDS Day to those we have lost, it's just as important to have our eye laser-focused on the goal we will soon achieve -- erasing HIV infection from the face of the earth," said Desert AIDS Project CEO David Brinkman.
"This event gives us the opportunity to shine a light on people who have made such important contributions to what D.A.P. does every day of the year," he said.
