Free Bus Service From Palm Desert to Riverside

The free bus service this week includes stops at Morongo Casino and Moreno Valley. The agency is trying out a solar bus.

SunLine Transit Agency will continue a week of free rides today on its Commuter Link 220 line that goes from Palm Desert to Riverside, with stops at Morongo Casino and Moreno Valley.

The ridership promotion, scheduled to continue through Friday, also will give the transit agency a chance to evaluate a BYD C9 electric bus for potential purchase. The 40-foot, long-range coach runs on solar energy and a battery reserve.

“We’re really excited about being selected to test this innovative new concept in zero emissions transit,” said Lauren Skiver, general manager of SunLine Transit Agency. “We thought it would be a great way to encourage potential riders to try out our Commuter Link 220 line, as well, so we designed the free rides promotion in conjunction with the BYD C9 trial run.”
