Free Spay, Neuter Clinic Being Offered at Valley Casino

Fantasy Springs Resort Casino will sponsor a free spay and neuter clinic for cats and dogs at the end of the month.

The clinic is scheduled for 9 a.m. July 31 at the Indio casino, and will operate out of a trailer run by the nonprofit Animal Action League. The group provides spay and neuter services in areas of the valley with limited resources, and the mobile clinic is an insured and licensed facility, Fantasy Springs spokeswoman Anndee Laskoe said.

"The goal is to spay and neuter as many cats and dogs as possible to eventually eliminate homeless animals in the streets," she said.

Those interested should arrive by 9 a.m. the day of the clinic to register. Larger breed female dogs and cats will be admitted first -- 25 to 40 animals can be spayed and neutered in a day in the clinic, Laskoe said.

Rabies shots and other vaccinations will also be available for a small donation, she said.
