Prices decline in the past week; experts still unsure of the future

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland
Empire fell two-tenths of a cent today to $4.122, one day after a 10-day
streak of decreases ended with an increase of six-tenths of a cent.
Prices in Palm Desert have been seen just under $4.10 per gallon.
The average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties is 1.4 cents
less than a week ago but 2.1 cents more than one month ago and 20.9 cents higher than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

"The price of oil has been so volatile in recent weeks that it's hard
to say where gas prices are headed in the coming days,'' said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
