The Gardens on El Paseo Celebrates 20-Year Anniversary

The Gardens on El Paseo has welcomed even more new and exciting retail and restaurants.

From The Gardens on El Paseo: The Gardens on El Paseo is celebrating 20 years of retail excellence. The shopping center, located in the heart of El Paseo in Palm Desert, opened in October 1998 and has served as the premier shopping and dining destination in the Coachella Valley for the last two decades.

“We are extremely pleased with the retail growth at El Paseo, including the addition of unique to market and iconic brands our customers want,” said General Manager Patrick Klein. “We are committed to this community and look forward to offering unparalleled shopping, dining and entertainment experiences for many years to come.”

The Gardens on El Paseo has welcomed even more new and exciting retail and restaurants. Most recently, the center added another Coachella Valley staple, TRINA TURK. Originally opening as a pop-up boutique, the brand has since become a permanent tenant at the shopping center. Other retailers that have opened in recent years include J.Jill, Johnny Was, and Tesla.

The shopping center was combined with El Paseo Village in 2010, and together they are home to 50 stores and restaurants, some of which have been a part of the shopping center since the beginning. Retailers including Saks Fifth Avenue, b. alsohns jewelers, Banana Republic, BB One, Between The Sheets, Brooks Brothers, GAIL Jewelers, J. Stephens Shoes, Talbots, Tommy Bahama, and Williams-Sonoma, along with restaurants including Pacifica Seafood Restaurant, Sullivan’s Steakhouse, Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza, and Tommy Bahama Restaurant & Bar opened along with the shopping center or within the first year of operations.

After the merger of the two shopping destinations, The Gardens on El Paseo also underwent a renovation to widen sight lines and open shopping center walkways making accessibility to the center more customer friendly. The botanical gardens were redesigned to reflect an artful, authentic desert landscape creating a unique shopping experience.

The shopping center has been the home to numerous community events including El Paseo Cruise Night, the annual Paint El Paseo Pink cancer awareness walk, and The Gardens Annual Concert Series which has benefited dozens of local non-profit organizations since the series began in 1999. In 2016, The Gardens on El Paseo partnered with Palm Springs Life and The City of Palm Desert to become the venue for Fashion Week El Paseo and Palm Desert Food & Wine Festival.
