Just prior to taking the stage, the duo hosted an intimate press conference at the Empire Polo Grounds in which they highlighted some of the the many reasons they were so excited to be in the California desert this weekend.

1) Brooks' headlining event helped set an all-time high attendance record at the annual country music festival. Goldenvoice, who puts on the show, announced that 75,000 people were in attendance on Sunday, which is more than any other year on record for the festival.

2) There was no "set" set. Brooks told Patch that only the first two songs were decided before the show. The rest was improvised.

"Because for the first two songs, what I want to do is I want to find where that stage is, where all our stuff is.. And after that, we'll just start calling them by the intros," he said. "This is a good thing. Because when nobody knows what's going on, everybody's surprised, including me!"

3) Some famous faces showed up to the stage to watch Brooks perform. Among them, actors Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher and singer Lee Brice were rocking out to Brooks' tunes. Famed chef Guy Fieri also sat in the pit to check it out.

4) Brooks had been asked for years to perform at Stagecoach, but the timing wasn't right until now.

"We retired sometime around 2000, 2001 when we were raising our babies, that's when the festival started taking off, all festivals did," Brooks said. "[Goldenvoice] were sweet enough to ask every year. And every year, we would tell them 'we're raising our babies but thank you.' And then once we stopped raising our babies, once we got them off to college, we were on tour for three years and couldn't do it. So I promised them the first available chance that I could have I would play here. And this is the first available chance that we've had. So I feel very lucky to be asked. I feel very honored. And this year the other acts like Keith Urban have told me that this is going to be the best time of my life and I'm very excited."

5) Yearwood and Brooks didn't get to see a show at the concert that they wanted to: Keith Urban.

"I just wanted to see his hair in this wind," Brooks joked.
