'Get Tested Coachella Valley' to be Awarded During Annual Nurses Luncheon
The 11th annual Desert Nurses Appreciation Luncheon is planned for Tuesday.

RANCHO MIRAGE, CA - Local nurses will be honored Tuesday during an appreciation luncheon that will also see the team behind a Coachella Valley HIV- testing campaign recognized for their efforts.
The 11th annual Desert Nurses Appreciation Luncheon, hosted by the Rancho Mirage Chamber of Commerce, will get underway at 11:30 a.m. at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa.

The luncheon, held annually during National Nurses Week, will include recognition of the 16 members of Get Tested Coachella Valley, a nonprofit that provides free HIV testing at events and locations throughout the region.
The organization will receive the 2016 Humanitarian Award for Public Health Service, which is given to individuals or organizations that have "a direct, immediate and positive impact on the health of Coachella Valley residents," according to the chamber of commerce.

"Public health is all about the people," said Susan Unger, Get Tested Coachella Valley project director. "This award is a wonderful acknowledgment of the difference we can make when people pull together in the community. I'm proud of our team and grateful for our 100 partners."
