Heated Pools Offer Year-Round Swimming At PD's Aquatic Center

From Palm Desert Aquatic Center: With average temperatures of 78 degrees in Greater Palm Springs, November is still swimming weather at Palm Desert Aquatic Center (PDAC). At PDAC, pools are heated to a perfect 81 degrees, so even your early morning swim will refresh and invigorate you without making you wish you had worn a wetsuit. With the upcoming Glenn McCormick Memorial Diving Invitational, special hours for Thanksgiving, and an on-going, jam-packed schedule of classes, make sure you don’t miss a beat by following PDAC on Facebook at facebook.com/YMCAPDAC and Instagram @pdaquaticcenter.


The Glenn McCormick Memorial Diving Invitational takes place this weekend, November 11-12, at PDAC. The event kicks off at 8:30 a.m. each day and is free to spectators. The competition includes Novice and Junior Olympics competitors, 1m and 3m events, a costume synchro, and more. Don’t skip your morning exercise on Thanksgiving! Before settling in with a drumstick and some mashed potatoes, make sure you get your laps in at the pool. PDAC is open 5:30-11:00 a.m. for short course lap swim and a deep-water exercise class at 9:00 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day. And if you do over do it on Thanksgiving and want to work off that extra slice of pumpkin pie, PDAC will be back open for regular hours, 5:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Black Friday.

You do not want to forget about PDAC’s diverse assortment of exercise classes. They offer pool classes such as shallow water boot camp, deep-water exercise, arthritis exercise, noodle class, and US Masters swimming as well as out-of-pool classes such as chair yoga, restorative yoga, and cycling on the deck.
