Hit-and-Run Driver Sought After Striking Pair Changing Flat Tire
The unidentified motorist ditched the pick-up & fled on foot after the Indio crash, officials said. Two victims are in critical condition.
INDIO, CA — An Indio man is sought as a "person of interest," after a Dodge Ram pick-up, registered in his name, was involved in a hit-and-run that seriously injured two individuals, who were changing a flat tire on their vehicle Friday night in Indio, according to authorities.
The truck's owner, Julio Infante, 47, could not be located, however, information is not clear who was driving during the crash that occurred at approximately 11:48 p.m. on Monroe Street, north of Avenue 51, as the motorist ran from the scene, the Indio Police Department said.
"The driver of the vehicle left on foot on Monroe Street towards the Polo Grounds," police said, adding, "Information is needed about who may have been driving the vehicle at the time of the collision."

The two victims, whose vehicle also was struck, were taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in critical condition, officials said.
