How Hot Will Palm Desert Get? Excessive Heat Warning Through Weekend

During extreme heat, take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities and stay cool!

PALM DESERT, CA — Potentially record-setting heat is sticking around in parts of Riverside County Friday. Over the weekend, temperatures were expected to soar well into the triple-digits in Palm Desert and across the Coachella Valley.

An excessive heat warning will be in effect through 8 p.m. Saturday in the Coachella Valley and the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning, where temperatures could range from 114 to 120 degrees. At least one flight was canceled from leaving the Palm Springs International Airport Thursday due to temperatures that topped 118 degrees, SkyWest reported.

Friday temperatures at the airport in Palm Springs were predicted to reach 120 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

"Extreme heat will significantly increase the potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities," NWS forecasters warned. "Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water."
