Judy Garland's Granddaughter Appearing At Special 'Wizard of Oz' Screening In Palm Springs

PALM SPRINGS, CA — The Plaza Theatre in Palm Springs is hosting a special screening of the 1939 classic film The Wizard of Oz next month, and the event will feature a guest appearance by Vanessa O'Neil, granddaughter of Judy Garland.

O'Neil will introduce the film and join the audience for a Q&A.

The screening takes place at 3 p.m. Friday, August 22, at the theater located at 128 South Palm Canyon Drive. Tickets start at $20 and are available now at palmspringsplazatheatre.com.

Born in Los Angeles in 1990, O’Neil is the only granddaughter of the legendary actress who starred as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz.

O'Neil's mother is Garland's daughter, actress and singer Lorna Luft. O'Neil's father was the rock 'n' roll guitarist/songwriter/producer Jake Hooker.

O'Neil is the niece of actress and singer Liza Minelli, Garland's oldest daughter.

As the founder and administrator of the Judy Garland Estate's official social media platforms, O'Neil is a leading voice and a advocate for her family's creative legacy.

She works to preserve and celebrate the professional and personal memories of the grandmother she never knew.
