Kick Your Gas Lawnmower to the Curb
Valley residents are being given a change to trade in gas mowers for new electric models in effort to curb pollution.

Coachella Valley residents can help reduce air pollution and save money by trading in gas-powered lawnmowers for a new electric model.
Registration has opened for the Air Quality Management District’s upcoming lawnmower exchange, on May 19th in the parking lot of the Riverside County Fairgrounds in Indio. To sign up, click here.
“Now in it’s tenth year, the exchange offers quiet, advances lawnmowers that reduce a significant amount of air pollution,” Fourth District Supervisor John Benoit, who serves on the AQMD Governing Board, said. “As supplies are limited, resident must make reservations and are encouraged to do so early.”

The “Mow Down Air Pollution” program does have restrictions on exchanging mowers:
- Gas-powered mowers must be in working order.
- Residents must be 18 or over, with proof of residency.
- Only one mower per household can be exchanged.
This year, mowers can be exchanged for one of six electric models at deep discounts:
